sesquipedaliatic: Grouchy Daniel finds sand in his toothbrush (Sand and toothbrushes do not mix)
After much hemming and hawing, I've decided to do something about my irrational fear of lace. Time for a new project! I'm headed to the store to get yarn tomorrow (was going to have Mum mail me some of my stash, but the yarn I had in mind is either cobweb or single ply and [personal profile] charloween helpfully saved me from myself and suggested something with more weight) but all the patterns I'm considering require roughly the same yardage or are flexible. Top three contenders:

Clapo-Ktus- Not the most challenging lace pattern (though lacier than anything I've ever managed), but a lovely drape. Would be fun in a steely grey.

Upstairs- A lacier look, which should hold up just as well with slightly weightier yarn and possibly larger needles.

Sunshine- I love the shape, but calling this lace is stretching it.

I'm also hopelessly in love with this Shipwreck shawl from Knitty. (Don't worry, Girasole, I still drool over you on a regular basis.) It's WHOA CRAZY outside of my skill and price range, and requires way more hours than I can give right now. But so pretty! The second shot, of the shawl unfurled over the water, makes me oh so happy.

Hey pattern makers: take beautiful pictures of your pieces and I will LOVE YOU AND YOUR WORK FOREVER.
